The guide to buying books
The most effective way to identify a book is with the ISBN – International Standard Book Number. The ISBN is a 13 digit number that begins 978. It is unique to each book and knowing the ISBN makes books ordering easy. Once you have the ISBN, a book can be found without the title or the author. It is the most accurate way of providing a quote. The ISBN can be found above the barcode on the back cover of a book or on the title page inside the front cover. The ISBN will also be listed on all publisher marketing materials.
Don’t worry if you don’t have the ISBN
Title
In addition to the main title a book may have a secondary title or series title. The more information you have on the title, the easier it will be to identify the book.
Author
Some books may have more than one author, others might include the name of a series editor. Generally, you will only need any one name.
Publisher
Some books – particularly fiction titles – may be available from more than one publisher and may vary in price , publication date and editorial notes, so it is useful to know which publisher edition you require.
Purchase Order Numbers
An official Purchase Order Number (PO Number) provided by the Finance Office enables us to process your order quickly and efficiently. It also allows you to track your order. You will need a PO number on any order you may place with us.
